The Flower Moon 🌕

5/12 - Full Moon, Empanadas, and Pop-Ups

Good Morning, Golden! Mount Zion’s mountain monogram—that giant “M” maintained by Mines—just got a little less rocky and a whole lot lighter. Graduates continued the time-honored tradition of taking a 10-pound rock home with them, and according to this goose’s calculations, that’s 5.59 tons of sentimental geology flying the coop. (More in the trivia below.) Rock on, dear graduates. Rock on. 🤘

In other news, today is Full Moon Free Pass Day—you know, that unofficial holiday where you get to blame everything on the moon and take some extra self care time. Because: “it’s a full moon.” Fun fact…tonight’s full moon’s name is owing to the abundant seasonal wildflower blooms that appear during this time of year. 🌷

🔎 Around Golden: Not So Secret Empanada Spot

Turns out, this goose has been sleeping on one of Golden’s most delicious gems: San Telmo Market & Deli. I only found out thanks to the free, delicious empanadas during Marv Kay Day at the Rec Center.

Tucked just behind Higher Grounds Café and Truly Bohotique, this Argentine market started as a pandemic project by a geologist-turned-entrepreneur from Buenos Aires and her husband. They officially opened in June 2021 and now people travel from all over to visit their store. They also sell online!

The ingredients? 100-percent Argentinian. The fillings? Flavorful. The vibes? Very much communal table, yerba maté, and Messi on the wall. Ten out of ten. Open Thursday to Sunday 10am to 5pm. Go for the empanadas, stay for the chocotorta.

Until next time! Stay curious. Stay kind. ✨
