It’s the final countdown to vacation: Mines wraps up this week ⏳, and the high schoolers are kicking off summer pyro style 🔥—gathered ‘round a (sanctioned) bonfire in the school parking lot, roasting s’mores alongside their final shreds of academic motivation. Here’s to the graduates! 🎓

🌳 Yard Waste Collection Week (May 5-9) - Time to evict those freeloading weeds and broken branches. Golden will collect yard waste on your regular trash day—just set it out by 7 a.m. Accepted materials include grass clippings, pine needles, leaves, weeds, branches, sawdust, and ground or chipped wood. Use your green organics cart, bundle it up, or use certified compostable bags from the hardware store.

📫️ Place a Bag of Nonperishable Food Next to Your Mailbox this Saturday (5/10) - Yes, really! Your mail person will pick it up for The USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive with Golden Pantry & Thrift.

🚰 Irrigation Rebates - The City of Golden is offering irrigation rebates up to $200 for residents and businesses for high efficient nozzles & drip irrigation equipment.

📣 Leadership JeffCo applications open May 1-31 - Aspiring leaders are encouraged to apply for this year’s class. Enhance your leadership style, learn more about JeffCo, and network with peers and local leaders.

🧑‍🎓 Mine’s Graduate Commencement is on Thursday at 3pm - The parents are back in town! Students, hide the keg. Everyone else, beware of traffic.

🧑‍🚒 Free Wildfire Evacuation “Go Bags” for Golden Residents - Sign up for a Detailed Home Assessment here and get a free evacuation go bag with everything from a solar crank radio to a basic first aid kit to a 3-in-1 portable charging cord and more. Limited to the first 50 signups.

🇺🇸 Volunteers Needed to Honor Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day - The City of Golden is looking for volunteers to help plant flowers (5/20), place flags on veterans' graves (5/23) and to assist with flag removal (5/27). Sign up here. 

🚗 Summer Parking Permits are in effect - The three Golden Community Center parking lots – 10th Street, 8th Street and the Overflow Lot (off 10th Street) will return to permit parking only Friday through Sunday until October 1. Golden Residents can get their FREE resident permit here.
