🎄 Who Keeps the (Holiday) Lights on for You?

Hint: It’s not Motel 6. The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), “primarily funded by a special property tax in the district,” pays for the installation and removal of the holiday lights in most of downtown. You can learn more about it in Councilor Don Cameron’s (Ward 3) message in the latest Golden Informer issue.

Spoiler Alert: The Buffalo Rose, Atomic Pizza, and the Golden Mill all received property tax rebates (a TIF) for their redevelopment through the DDA. If you’re a downtown business, check out if you can too. The more you know. 🌈 ⭐️

🐐 The GOAT of Fire Prevention

Who knew fire prevention could be so adorable? A local HOA in Golden recently teamed up with Goat Mowers LLC, a family-owned Colorado business, to clear fire-prone vegetation—with the help of some hardworking goats!

These furry firefighters munch their way through weeds, brush, and invasive plants, creating natural firebreaks and reducing wildfire risk in our community. Not only are goats eco-friendly (no chemicals or air pollution here!), but they can also tackle tough terrain that machinery can’t reach.

This creative and sustainable approach is a win-win: safer neighborhoods, healthier ecosystems, and even happier goats. Meet the team. 🐐 💛
