Good morning, Golden! Welcome to 2025! Nothing like a new year to kickstart a new newsletter.
As a lover of New Year’s resolutions—but a repeat offender of not sticking to them—I’ve embraced setting intentions instead. This year, my intention is 🥁…Creativity. What better way to kick it off than by creating something that’s focused on local happenings?
Enter this free newsletter: a curated collection of all the interesting news, events, and happenings across Golden and the Front Range—shared with a side of humor. Let’s get inspired together! ✨

📖 Golden’s Recreation Guide is Now Available
Did you know Golden has a Jedi Masters camp AND a Harry Potter camp for kids?! Not to mention the Superstructures Architecture and Robopets Robotics camps. Hello, baby Einsteins.
For those of us sadly aged out of Harry Potter camp, there’s always the new pickleball courts 🏓 at Tony Grampas. Or check out the pottery classes at the Golden Rec Center 🫖 (registration opens Feb 7 for the March classes). Having taken a pottery class this last summer as a newbie, I personally recommend them. Winter classes go quickly and spots are limited.
Find the guide here ➡️: Ready, Set…Golden! Winter/Spring 2025 (including summer camps)
🎨 Getting Crafty with Used Art Supplies
(Disclaimer: I promise this newsletter will not only be about creativity. 😂)
The childhood scrapbooker in me—who once dove into magazine recycling bins for materials—would feel right at home at The Craft Box in Wheat Ridge. It’s a thrift store for art supplies and a creative haven for makers of all kinds.
Since opening, The Craft Box has diverted over 1.4 tons of craft supplies from landfills, and owner Liz Boxler’s mission goes beyond sustainability. She’s committed to fostering community through thrifty crafting and even creates goods for those in need, like fidget quilts for Alzheimer’s patients. ❤️
Whether you’re an avid crafter or someone looking to test out a new hobby without breaking the bank, The Craft Box has something to fuel that creative spark. ✨

✌️Goodbye Grass (not that kind)
New Year, New Yard? Registration opens this month for Golden residents to snag up to a $500 discount on replacing your lawn with waterwise plants 🌱. You can use the discount for lawn removal or garden kits, so don’t forget to sign up for the 2025 interest list to be notified when applications open.
If your grass is already dead (like mine), you won’t qualify—but there’s still hope! Even without a lawn to replace, you can use the Garden In a Box store to design a waterwise yard with ease. Pro tip: the popular kits sell out fast (as learned from experience), so join their interest list now to grab one when they become available!

📆 Upcoming Events
📚️ Atomic Habits Book Club (1/2 & 1/16 @ 6-7:30pm): Kickstart your New Year’s resolutions with Golden Counseling Center’s “What Is My Therapist Reading?” Book Club! Atomic Habits by James Clear offers practical strategies to help you build good habits, break bad ones, and make meaningful changes in your life. Fantastic book and such a brilliant idea! Therapy + community + books = my fav things ✨ Cost is $40/month.
☕️ Golden Startup Coffee (1/8 @ 9-11am): Some serious girl power in the house! 🙌 Kristen Taylor, founder and CEO of Mom Juice 🍷 (a low-sugar, clean-ingredient wine company—yes, please!), and Megan Henken, co-founder of MyUTI (not all heroes wear capes), will be speaking. FREE, but register here!
💃 Denver Dance Tribe (1/11 @ 7-10pm): Do you love dancing, but your 2am clubbing days have expired? Find yourself having “micro dance parties” to Taylor Swift alone in your living room? Cool. Me too. These ladies only pop-up events were raved about by a friend, and they sell out so be sure to get your ticket! The next two are in Lakewood and the themes are Ho Down 🤠 and 90’s Prom 🪩.
Save the date:
🐶 Goldens in Golden (Sat, 2/8 @ 11am-1pm) - Mark your calendars now so you don’t plan a ski trip atop this super fun (and slobbery) event!

🎄 Christmas Tree Drop Off Location
When: December 26 through January 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 230 Depot St.
Why: Because the environment will appreciate it very mulch. 🤦♀️
