🍜 Restaurant Week Reservations
Denver Restaurant Week is coming up March 7-16 so book your reservations! Golden’s very own Nosu Ramen is featured, and you can get three tasty courses for $35. Or head south to Morrison and check out The Fort, where they’re serving up "New Foods of The Old West” in an adobe building modeled after Bent’s Fort, a famous Colorado fur trade fort built in 1833.
Denver Restaurant Week will include four price points: $25, $35, $45 and $55 for a multi-course meal. To see the complete list of restaurants and the menus they’re offering, check out the ➡️ Denver Restaurant Week Website.
🪨 Don’t Take It for Granite—Events at Mines Museum
Got a rock, mineral, fossil, or gem that’s got you stumped? Bring it to Mineral ID Day at the Mines Museum, where expert geologists will help you figure out what you’ve been holding onto.
While that rock you found on vacation could be a priceless gem, no appraisals or valuations will be given…but you will leave with some rock-solid knowledge. 💪
This FREE event takes place on Saturday from 1-4pm. To note, there’s a limit of 3 samples per person so choose wisely!
Want more ways to rock?
💎 Mines Museum’s bi-annual Mineral Sale is happening on Saturday and Sunday. You can shop a massive selection of discounted rocks, minerals, fossils, and other geological finds. The sale is located in GRL 201, just across the hall from the main entrance.
🥂 First Friday at Mines Museum is back, kicking off next Friday evening (see more in the events list below)! Enjoy live music, hands-on activities, and after-hours exhibit access, plus a cash bar.
Mines Museum Location: 1310 Maple Street
(In case you’re wondering, “What’s with all the rock talk?”—the Denver Gem and Mineral Guild’s Gem and Mineral Show is rolling into town this weekend at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.)
📚️ Cannonball’s First Book Club: A Smashing Success
With a thought-provoking book, a great turnout, and lively discussion (actually about the book 😉), Cannonball’s first Book Club has this Goose already looking forward to the next one!
The club kicked things off with Vox by Christina Dalcher, a dystopian novel that had everyone talking—ironically, about a world where talking is severely limited. The conversation was just as engaging as the book itself, with plenty of insights, questions, and interesting perspectives.
If you missed this one, don’t worry—join for the next one! The next book will be Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.

Cannonball’s First Book Club on Tuesday

🔎 Around Golden: The Armory – Golden’s Cobblestone Castle
Standing at 1301 Arapahoe Street, the Colorado National Guard Armory has been a Golden icon since 1913. Designed by James H. Gow, it was built to house Company A Engineers, a unit made up of 20% Colorado School of Mines students, and later served as headquarters for Mine’s ROTC unit during World Wars I and II.
Constructed from 3,330 wagonloads of stone hauled from Clear Creek and Golden Gate Canyon, the Armory is believed to be the largest cobblestone structure in the U.S., earning a spot in Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Originally, the first floor housed the Golden Post Office and retail shops, while the upper levels served as dormitories, training grounds, and drill space for Company A.
After WWII, the Armory helped ease Golden’s housing shortage by converting into a Colorado School of Mines dormitory. It remained an active armory until 1971, when the State of Colorado sold it to private owners.
Today, the Armory blends history with modern life, housing Café 13 and Connects Workspace—but its castle-like charm and military past continue to make it one of Golden’s most storied landmarks.
