Good morning, Golden! It’s Spring Break, the kids are feral, and if you’re not wearing green today, you might just get pinched by a leprechaun—or a kindergartener on a sugar high. Wear green or watch yo self. Happy St. Paddy’s Day! 💚

🚲️ Bike Cruise Schedule Dropped

The Golden Bike Cruise—one of this goose’s favorite events—just released its summer cruise schedule! Each ride has a theme, and trust me, people go all in. So start planning those costumes now, because these cruises are guaranteed to be a fun time!

😉 Making Conspicuous Compassion a Thing

First, there was “conspicuous consumption.” 🛍️

Then came conspicuous conservation 🌿—you know, when everyone bought a Prius and installed solar panels in spots that may not have been the most efficient but were certainly the most visible.

Now, it's time for “conspicuous compassion”! 🫶 Let’s make kindness the next big flex. Flaunt those good deeds and spread the word—because the world can never have too much generosity.

To kick off this totally real, definitely-not-made-up movement, here are some incredible local organizations looking for volunteers! Check out their opportunities below—plus some sweet stats on their impact. 😎

👉 BGOLDN

  • 🍎 Mission: To increase food-security in the Golden community through innovative partnerships and programs.

  • 🌟 Impact Stats: In 2023, BGOLDN…

    • 6,698+ items donated through community support and food drives

    • 400 families served and 9,550 pounds of food on average distributed monthly

👉 GoFarm

    • Made food more affordable and accessible to more than 1,850 households

    • Donated 2,363 pounds of fresh locally grown food to 8 pantries or nonprofit food access orgs

    • Provided food to 560 local food share members across 3 JeffCo locations and offered 281 varieties of local vegetables, fruits, and other artisan items

  • 🌲 Mission: Preserve open space and parkland. Protect park and natural resources. Provide healthy, nature-based experiences.

  • 🌟 Impact Stats: In 2023, JeffCo Open Space

    • Restored 6.5 habitat acres and acquired 818.18 acres of land

    • Treated 4,990 acres for noxious weeds and 169.6 acres for forest health

  • Just Cool: They have a volunteer position titled “Frog Watch.” I’m toad-ally serious.

  • 👧 Mission: To recruit, train and manage volunteers who serve as independent lay advocates for children who are victims of neglect and physical and/or sexual abuse. Our hope is that all children will have a CASA volunteer as someone to pay attention, someone to give the child a voice, someone to care.

  • 🌟 Impact Stats: In 2023, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)…

    • 256 active volunteers served 311 children

    • 50% of children served remained in their home or were reunified with their parents

👉 Want to volunteer but not seeing a good fit? The City of Golden has an entire list of local organizations with opportunities to give back on a one time basis or regularly.
